Why Not?

Never have I ever... blogged. My rationale being: would anyone really read it? The answer is probably no one outside an occasional family member. But alas, I have stepped into a new era of my life - mommyhood. And quite frankly, I want to tell/write about our new family adventures. Blogging allows me to do this while keeping me from being the annoying facebook poster. Additionally, I've decided it's a great way to journal our family... assuming the internet never becomes obsolete. Who knows, maybe one day my son will run across this in the archives and have a grand ol' time reliving some of these memories.

So let's get up to speed. I met my handsome hubby in 2003. We were not high school sweethearts, it was not love at first sight. We were just the wingmen one night out while a friend of mine and a friend of his were hooking up. Because he said he was a fireman and had a Harley, he left with my phone number. A few days later, he shows up on my doorstep dressed up and smelling oh-so-good. We climbed into his freshly washed truck and began the first date that changed our lives. We married on December 17, 2005. Below is us walking out to "All I want for Christmas is You." (Are you now singing it in your head like I am?)

Now fast forward 5 years. In October of 2010, October 9th to be exact, I found out I was pregnant. Best news of my life... considering we had been trying since December of 2009. I had big plans of spreading the news oh-so-creatively. But I quickly contracted a bad case of morning sickness (which, incidently, wasn't just limited to the morning). All I had the energy for was a "Guess what, we're having a baby." Not exciting, I know. But nausea takes all the fun out of it. After that first agonizing 17 weeks, I started to feel better. Then came the showers and nesting and pillow fortress sleep habits. And then June 13, 2011, we got to meet him. Every perfect ounce of him. (And trust me, there were plenty of ounces to love.)
