Approximately 2012 years ago, Jesus was born on this earth. He was God in the form of man. He lived a perfect life with the perfect amount of truth, love and passion. And he came to save us from our true deserved destiny. The religious and political leaders of his time were threatened by him and then dreadfully crucified him. But it would not have happened if it were not God's plan. That day on the cross, Christ bore all of our sins, past, present and future. And in that moment, he absorbed all of God's wrath and punishment. In that moment, God had to turn his back and separate Himself from His son because of the abhorring sin. His lifeless body was removed from the cross and placed in a grave. But the grave couldn't contain him. In three days, he defied death and arose. He appeared to his followers than ascended to Heaven to sit at the right hand of God. And now... through belief in Jesus Christ as my atoning sacrifice, because He faced the moment of separation from God, I will never have to. His death is my life. His ressurection is my hope. THAT is why this is my most favorite Sunday.
And of course, this was Cutler's first Ressurection Day, so celebrate we did. His very first Easter Egg hunt was at church where the hunt would be followed by food and bounce houses and train rides and pony rides and petting zoos. Good times to be had by all! (For the record, I rode the train with him. While I had a grand time, not sure he did. And he was too little for the petting zoo, but you could tell he was dying to pet them all.)
Cutler didn't really get the gist of "hunting" for eggs. He just sat in the grass and stared. And when we showed him how to put his egg in the basket, he immediately took the egg out. He did, however, love that they made noise when he shook them. Since he can't eat the candy inside, I'm glad he was able to pull some satisfaction from them.
Blissfully shaking away.
And if you're my facebook friend, you've seen the next picture. But it's such a proud mommy moment that it's worth sharing again.
And then Easter Egg Hunt #2 was at his Aunt Jacqueline's parents' house (a.k.a. Mommy Troy and Daddy Troy). Another festive bash with confetti eggs, pinatas and a bounce house. As you can see, he was thoroughly enjoying himself.
And then, of course, Ressurection Day. Only one small snafu that morning. I purchased some dress shoes for him, held them up to his feet to measure the length, only to realize the day of that while the length was fine, the width wasn't. My sweet baby's feet were too fat to fit the shoes. So we had to turn to the trusty tennies. But minor, minor issue. I mean, technically, who cares about shoes when you're celebrating a Risen Savior? But as I said before, I do enjoy the spiffy clothes. So here's my little man on the big day.
Jeremy was on shift Easter Sunday, so we missed him tons. But we are thankful for his job and will just take twice as many pictures next year. All other aspects of the day were wonderful. Music, the service, the fellowship, the family. And the Savior. He is Risen. He is Risen indeed!
