1. Christmas
2. New Years
3. My brother's wedding
4. Valentine's Day
5. Easter
6. A new baby on the way
And number 6 most definitely trumps numbers 1 through 5. Not that the other events weren't most special (especially little brother's matrimony). It's just that I was blessed yet again with the joys of first trimester sickness. Plus a few other sicknesses thrown in. This sort of dwarfed my festive mood. I'll spare you the details, but I was basically death warmed over for about 20 weeks. Imagine what that did to my attitude. Imagine what my attitude did to my husband.
But alas, I'm amongst the living again. And so here I go with a monstrous post to cover a 5 month gap.
As part of our 7 year anniversary celebration, my hubby surprised me with my perfect kind of date night. Dinner and a Christmas show: the Rockettes! Because we know how I love ALL things Christmas. And I will note that this was BEFORE pregnancy began wreaking havoc.
And then the havoc started. So when we made a trip to Kansas to spend Christmas with my dad, I was too pekid to take many pictures. But at least I got this one.

Easter is always one of my favorite days. Again, sadly, Jeremy was on shift for the second Easter in a row. But that didn't dampen my enthusiasm for dressing up the little man. Don't he look sharp?
Cousins! |
And of course, the pre-Easter egg hunt. Admittedly, this was not a good night. The short hour that we were at church, Cutler was in timeout 4 times. Yes, 4. He's an independent little stinker.
Snaggin' an "eeg" (in Cutler speak) |
the only way I could get a pic with him |
a pic truly indicitive of the night's attitude |
Um, let's see. What other cool things can I tell about? How about Daddy running his first 1/2 marathon? I forfeited my wife of the year trophy and did not attend. (This pregnancy makes me less than ambitious.) But we sent Daddy some encouragement pics for the route.
What's up? You tired yet, Daddy? |
You can do it!! |
Cutler has recently discovered that he LOVES choo choo trains. So imagine his excitement at getting to ride this fun thing. (Thanks to our friend Mike for filling in while J was on shift. I got in to ride with Cutler once, but I take up a little more room these days and it wasn't so pleasant.)

My heart. In one pic. |
And last but not least, the baby news. SO excited when we found out #2 was on the way last fall. Well, so excited for about a week. And then me and the porcelain became best friends. Which meant, again, that we did not announce in any sort of creative way. Too sick to care. But then around week 13, I had a sonogram and the doc asked me if I wanted to know the sex. Um, yes. So she told me her prediction. And I immediately called Jeremy (we didn't know I'd be having a sonogram, or he would've been with me). And then around 15 weeks, we happened to have another sonogram and we were asked again, do you want to know? And this doc confirmed the other doc's speculation. But we were still told to not to paint the room or anything. So finally the big gender reveal day came... on April 1st of all days. And the first two predictions were verified! Wanting to add a tinge of creativity to the announcement (since I failed so miserably before), and needing a way to tell all parents at one time, this is what we came up with. The following was emailed to everyone:
A Poem:
Hello! I’m Baby Jones #2.
I weigh a little over a pound,
And my gender? Here’s a clue:
I’m gonna have a cute little nose.
Pretty sure I’m gonna love bows.
Mommy’s hoping for curls again.
But who needs curls when you’ve got this grin?
My future could see diamonds and rocks.
Or maybe guitars, goals or lollipops.
Ponies & puppies, yeah those are cool.
Still not sure? (Scroll Down)
[in the email, i made them scroll much further]
Guess I’ll show you my tool! J
That’s right, everyone. Cutler’s getting a little brother and I’m over the moon about it. The land of little boys is a daily entertainment: from surprise rocks in the diaper to future Saturdays spent at the ball field (football, baseball, soccer… doesn’t matter). I know both boys will be hunting partners for Jeremy. And I love knowing that Cutler and ??? (Crew Lucas, maybe?) will grow up best friends.
And so far, our little man #2 is looking plenty healthy. Measuring about a week and a half bigger… which apparently is normal for me, considering Cutler was almost 9 lbs on his due date. J And the sound of that heartbeat NEVER gets old.
Love you all,
The Mommy of two boys J
So there you have it! We're having another boy and it couldn't feel more perfect. Jeremy is definitely breathing easier, and while I will never get to put hairbows on a baby, I'll get to spend my days teaching my boys how to treat the ones wearing the hairbows. (Of course, the only bows I want them to notice for the first 30 years are the kind that come with arrows.)
It's amazing to know deep in my heart that God created me not only to love Him, but to be a mom to two boys. And I will work ever so hard so that they love God too.
All right. Signing out. Till who knows when.... :)
