We're 6 days apart. We watched each other graduate high school. Then college. She was in my wedding; I in hers. (I might have swapped my broken Snow White barbie for her whole one years ago. An act I shall never live down. And don't entirely remember.) We married similar men. We each have two boys roughly the same age. And we both might be mildly neurotic. On one of our vacations a few years back I made the comment, "Do you know what sounds good?" And she responded, "Ice cream." Yep. We share a brain. She may be my cousin, but she's also one of my closest friends.
And we just spent the weekend together with our families. It was great fun. Great exhausting fun. So what fun things did we do together, you ask? Um... we went to the park. And found activities to do at the house. Don't judge. With 4 boys under 4, we were doing the community a favor. Or ourselves a favor. I mean, it was a process just to load up for the park.
Now for evidence of park fun.
He'll try to tell you otherwise, but he liked that swing |
Evidence of duck feeding.
(Notice Bowen's cast? He was such a trooper about it, you often forgot that maybe he shouldn't be swinging from the jungle gym. Or jumping on the trampoline. Mom did her best to keep him subdued. But that's a mighty feat with a 4 year old.)
How do you keep Caden from falling in the pond? See above. |
How Crew feeds the ducks. Or not. |
Little did Ashley know, this was only the beginning of Sugar Fest. |
Our big boys are enamored with other big boys. |
We discovered that Ashley's boys just might have the patience/knack for fishing.
Mine, for throwing rocks.
Getting a "brother" pic is harder than it looks. |
The Sugar Fest continues. |
Cheeks! Which were full of candy. |
So there was one exciting adventure. Bowen and Cutler got to go see Frozen on Ice. Mamaw and Grandpa were the brave souls to attempt such an outing. And it was a success! It was said that Meah, Colt and Bowen were mesmerized. And Cutler was pretty much over it by the second half.
Couldn't tell from this picture.
I'm loving the following picture. Our lil' radio flyers.
And that's all she wrote this go 'round.
Here's to the next VanDeventer/Jones family vacay. When the nap phase is over.
