Like Weeds Grow

That wise man long ago who said "time flies" was right on the money. Seems like not long ago, I was going for a walk right after I found out I was pregnant. And I'm almost sure it was just yesterday that we were bringing little Cutler Jones home from the hospital. Yet, somehow, he's 7 1/2 months old. "Growing like a weed," to quote some other phrase coiner. And from the perspective of a 7-month old, it's been a monumental start of a new year.

We've started eating baby food.

We've had our first ride in the Radio Flyer.

We had our first Chick-fil-a dining experience.

We've attended our first, and very exhausting, music class. (Where we didn't necessarily see  pigs flying, but we did see daddy singing Old MacDonald. Same thing, right?)

And we made a new best friend.

A month like this is not for the faint of heart. Especially since the month also included a trip to Kansas for a family reunion celebrating my Ellis Grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. This proved to be Cutler's first hotel experience and he was a trooper. I think his rule became: No-sleeping-unless-they-force-me-to-because-I-don't-want-to-miss-a-thing. While at this family reunion, Cutler swiped Sophie the Giraffe from Dylan (his little cousin). Dylan's parents (my cousin Derek and his wife Kristin) decided that Cutler should keep Sophie and she's been his sidekick ever since. (In fact, he's clinging to her in a picture above.)
And we can't forget to mention that in the past week or so, we've started teething and we're just moments from crawling. (There will, of course, be follow up posts regarding the passing of both of these milestones. I mean, what kind of mom do you think I am?)

I'm trying to enjoy every minute of it. Because as they say, it all goes by "in the blink of an eye."
