The Durango Project - Day 2

Armed with a somewhat decent night's sleep and better expectations of C-man's car antics, we tackled the second leg of trip with much less anxiety. Side note: Cutler thoroughly enjoyed his first night ever in a hotel. I, for one, cringed at much of it. Working in the hospitality sector has ruined me. But it's just plain impossible to keep a 14 month old from rolling on the floor or touching the remote. I still shudder at the thought.

We were meeting Ashley, Brian and Bowen in Durango before heading to our cabin. We got there just a bit before them (they were able to visit the Sand Dunes before heading in), and decided to wait at a park. So this is my first Cutler/mountain pic.

If you'll notice in the above picture, Jeremy is offering his hand for Cutler to hold. Cutler never, ever takes us up on that offer. Unless it's a daunting curb. When the VanDeventer's joined us, I immediately noticed that Bowen would hold his mother's hand whenever told. That was just a foreshadowing of what was to come. More on that later.

I believe the best decision Ashley and I made when planning our vacay, was the following.

the place

the deck

the rocking chairs

the drive

the view

Our first night there, out on the deck in the most perfect night air, we enjoyed grilled hamburgers (courtesy of Aunt Jill and Uncle Dale, who unknowingly had ordered a 1/4 cow of beef and was thus sharing the wealth). And once the little boys went to bed, we camped out in the rocking chairs for as long as possible. This last part would become our favorite time of the day.
