The Two-Two Express

One day I had a baby. The next day I blinked. And then he was two.

What?! My head is still sluggishly trying to wrap itself around the fact we now have a two-year-old under our roof. Swoosh! That's how these past two years have gone. But I'm so thankful God's allowed me to experience them.

Cutler's birthday fell on a Thursday which both Jeremy and I had off. So we tried to fill his day with a few of his favorite things.
1. popsicle (aka copicle) for breakfast
2. choo-choo train play time
3. swim lesson
4. chick-fil-a for lunch
5. more swimming (after a nap, of course)
6. snow cone
7. pizza for dinner
8. bubble guppies

Not bad, right? This was him after eating the entire snow cone.

We had his party the Saturday after his birthday. And as the title of this blog suggests, it was a train themed party. Cutler LOVES trains. See?

He also loves cupcakes.

It is becoming quite apparent that God did not instill in me a party planning gene. Much to the dismay of Pinterest enthusiasts everywhere, I'm sure. There were a million super cute train ideas that, quite frankly, I had neither the time nor energy to employ. So the party was simple. Colors: blue/orange to match the Lionel logo I used on the invitations. (I will, however, take credit for this. I designed the invites on my own. Quite proud of them. Though I can say this because I don't have any graphic design friends reading this blog.)

And beyond that, there was one decorated table. One. That's it. And it was the food table. Which meant that food took up the majority of the space which left me little else to decorate. It was wonderful. I'd show you a pictures, but I didn't take one. My how things change from year 1 to year 2.

It was a small party. Family only. But what do you expect from a mommy who's 7 months pregnant? In my book, it was perfect. And Cutler had a grand time. It was made even more perfect by one particular surprise. My dad and Michele had regrettably said they couldn't come because they needed to save their time for when Crew gets here. Which I totally understood. So imagine my total surprise when while I was putting out the chicken nuggets, in walks my dad and Michele. I just cried. (Remember, I'm pregnant.) But I was just overwhelmed. For the second year in a row, Cutler had all his grandparents together. How blessed are we?
