That's right, folks. He's here! He's actually been here for about 12 weeks now, but I've been a smidge busy. My increasingly used motto: better late than never.
So - the birth of our healthy second son. Because I am anything BUT the magical pregnant unicorn (movie reference), we had to schedule a c-section because junior was just too large. How large, you ask? 10 pounds! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we now know why every part of my pregnant self miserably ached. Crew Lucas joined us on August 6, 2013 at 8:14 a.m., weighing an even 10 lbs and measuring 21 1/4 inches in length. My heart was stolen all over again.
(Funny story: my brothers in law were recently commenting on their cousin's stellar baby bump. They swore she only looked 4 mos preggers when, in fact, she's due in just a few weeks. I kindly reminded them it was because they were used to the monstrosity that was attached to the front of me for 9 mos. Sigh.)
The details over the few days following his birth are a bit sketchy. Pain meds do a number on my coherency. But I do remember big brother taking to his little brother quite well. And still loves him... as long as he's not being held by Mamaw or Mimi, that is. Cutler has mastered cooing at Crew, which he carries out in a high pitched "Caw, caw, caw!" Then to be followed by, "So coot. Cootie, cootie, cootie." Melts my heart every time.
One evening, after being home a couple of days, our entire little family, dog included, was together in the living for our first ever family movie night (featuring The Lorax). And I thought... this is it. My cup truly runneth over. And this girl can't get enough of all her boys.
A few pics of our newbie.
