Ten Glorious Years

As of December 17th, I have been a wife for 10 years. Jeremy a husband.

How did this even happen? We passed the first-year get-to-really-know-you phase, hurdled over the 7-year-itch and landed right in 10 years of wedded bliss. Well, mostly bliss.

I had had big grand plans for our 10 year. We were going to go to London. But for many, many reasons it was not to work out for us this year. And for the same reasons, we decided to keep our anniversary simple.

We ate dinner at the restaurant of our first date (P.F. Changs) and then sat fireside in our home and enjoyed each other's company. Sans children, hallelujah.

But at dinner that night, we grabbed a napkin, walked down memory lane and remembered the following about the last ten years.

Year 1 (2006): we got Denver, our first dog; traveled to NYC for our first anniversary; started my job at La Quinta

Year 2 (2007): we put wood floors in our Brazos home and learned that we do not do home improvement projects together very well

Year 3 (2008): we got our second dog, Gage

Year 4 (2009): sold the Brazos house, bought our first house together (which remains our current home); Jeremy was Elk hunting on my 30th birthday (thanks, Uncle Larry); we sold my cute little Honda Accord and bought a 4-door Honda (for family planning, you see)

Year 5 (2010): got pregnant!

Year 6 (2011): Cutler was born! Jeremy was promoted to Driver

Year 7 (2012): vacationed in Durango, Co; got pregnant again (though not on that vacation)

Year 8 (2013): Crew is born!! Denver went to Heaven

Year 9 (2014): Jeremy was promoted to Captain

Year 10 (2015): Ten Year Anniversary!!

Strange how hard it is to remember everything. But it made us realize how much we've accomplished. And how blessed we are.

This man is my steadying force. It is my honor to do life with him. My love, I look forward to the next 10 years.
