Easter is not to be attended... but experienced.
Amen. And Amen.
In every believer's life, this day is the apex of our hope. And I just can't get enough. I spent the Lent season doing a study. And the final week, we spent studying Holy Week in real time. A fellow named Russ Ramsey contributed this quote: It was his presence on the cross, not his ability to come down from it, that would prove His divinity. What took place had to take place... sin was defeated.
And then the empty tomb? Well, hallelujah. Because it meant that Jesus had exercised his authority over all things, even death. My sin is covered by the cross act, and my hope is cemented in the resurrection act.
Yes, Brother. I experienced Easter this year. And it was soul moving.
And as always, I requested a photography session. And by request, I mean I had to use extreme coercion tactics. Why smiling for two seconds is the bane of a toddler's existence, I will never know. I just promised you a month's supply of chocolate... that you can eat right now... and you still don't want to pose? Lord, have mercy on me.
See? He was clearly not amused.
The Lord did have mercy on me. I at least got this next one. Which is especially good because it's the only part of the morning they would wear their sport jackets. How do you explain to little boys, "But the jackets are what MAKE the outfit?"
Never tell Crew Bean to "look" somewhere. Crew, look at me. Crew, look me in the eyes. Crew, look at the camera. It's like the word "look" suddenly makes it impossible for him to complete the action.
Bless him.
I live in a country where I can freely worship my God and fully "experience" a Resurrection Day celebration. This humbles me and fills me with gratitude. That I can experience this with my family makes my cup run over.
He is Risen! Indeed.
[P.S. This pic below was taken at the church's Easter Egg hunt the Wednesday prior. It's with their bestie, Molly Jo. It's just too much not to share.]
